Create and maintain a “gift log”. This is a tracker with commercial gestures (absorbing costs, providing discounts etc. that you don’t contractually have to).
It is analogous to the deposit side of the emotional bank account in personal relationships.
The log could be helpful in long term commercial relationships. It could be used to counter arguments from both clients and service providers like: “you are only focused on money, cost cutting etc.”.
Caution: use this log wisely! Just as you don’t speak frequently about your emotional bank account deposits and withdrawals.
